Yahweh Ben Yahweh Biography and Early Life

Yahweh Ben Yahweh is an American man who founded and led the Nation of Yahweh, a new religious movement. He was born Hulon Mitchell Jr. on October 27, 1935 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, United States.

He was born into an Antioch Church of God in Christ family in Enid, Oklahoma. He was born to his parents Reverend Dr. Hulon Mitchell Sr. (Father), a minister and Dr. Pearl Mitchell (Mother), a pianist.

Yahweh Ben Yahweh joined the military. He later attended Law School. He moved to Atlanta and in the 1960s he joined the Nation of Islam, where he changed his name to Hulon X. In 1978, he moved to Miami and declared himself the city’s black messiah and began the Nation of Yahweh.

Nation of Yahweh Movement

The Nation of Yahweh set up it’s headquarter in Liberty City, Florida in 1979. The movement was classified as a branch of the black Hebrew Israelite movement. He was also deeply involved in charity and this earned him the respect of the community. The mayor of Miami, Florida declared October 7, 1990 as the ‘Yahweh Ben Yahweh Day’ due to his many kind gestures in the community.

Yahweh Ben Yahweh and a host of his followers served 11 years of an 18-year sentence after he was convicted of a number of murder cases. Robert Rozier, a devotee of Yahweh Ben Yahweh confessed to seven murders. He was released on parole in 2001. On May 7, 2007, he died of prostate cancer in Miami, Florida.
