Broda Shaggi was born on July 6, 1993 in Mushin, Lagos State and he was also raised there by his grandmother and his late father named Joe Perry was a drama teacher at Mayflower Junior School, Ikenne, Ogun State.
He attended University of Lagos, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Art from the University of Lagos and it was while at the University that he began his comedy career.

Broda Shaggi was inspired into becoming the entertainer he is today by his late father as he always had the passion to act right from his early days as a kid.
His father taught drama as a teacher and he learnt to interpret roles and scripts with the help of his father even at a tender age and as time went on, he began to interpret and fit into several roles, before settling for Broda Shaggi, he starred as characters such as Inspector Perry, Professor Dele and Akonni Ibadan.
Apart from being a talented comedian, singer and actor, Broda Shaggi is also a fine artiste and it was during his days at the University of Lagos that he sharpened all his drawing and entertainment skills.
He came about the Broda Shaggi name at a mechanic’s workshop, according to him, the name Broda Shaggi was popular at his mechanic’s workshop and he decided to adopt the name as it was relatable.
Broda Shaggi gained massive followership on social media when he created a comedy skit titled Jesus appeared in Mushin and in the video, he was interviewed by Aunty Shaggi on what he would do if Jesus appeared in Mushin and he stated that he would mobilize area boys to hold him, take him to Quilox, buy him drinks and extort money from him.
He was highly criticized for the video but it only made him more famous.
