Waits attended the Jordan Elementary School, but while at this School, he was bullied a lot, it was also while at the School that he learnt how to play the guitar, while his father taught him how to play the Ukulele, in 1959, his parents divorced and he had to relocate with his mother to Chula Vista, San Diego but his father visited on several occasions, at the age of 18, due to the many problems he was facing, Waits dropped out of High School, he worked for a while at Napoleone’s Pizza Restaurant in National City, California, he then enrolled at the Southwestern Community College to study photography, it was then that he began to record songs and developed a lot of interest in music.
