Tata Nexon EV is one of India’s most beloved domestic EV cars and comes in two variants- Nexon EV Prime and Max.
It is equipped with a 30.2 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack and can achieve an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 312 km, supporting DC fast charging as well as DC rapid charging.
Features
Tata Nexon EV boasts a luxurious cabin and offers numerous connected car features, such as keyless entry/push button start, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with ZConnect apps, dual airbags and cruise control.
Among its safety features are hill hold assist, electronic parking brake with auto vehicle hold function and ESP with intelligent Vacuum-Less Boost and Active Control Device iVBAC). Furthermore, disc brakes on all four wheels as well as traction control system provide extra safeguarding.
The Nexon EV Max feels heavier despite having stiffer suspension settings that allow it to handle potholes and rough roads better than many cars its size. Unfortunately, its steering is heavy, leading it to occasionally bobble around uncontrollably.
The Nexon EV features a striking design with projector headlamps, single-lat grille featuring light blue accents, silver-coloured skid plates and 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. Furthermore, front and rear EV badges come as standard as well as air purifier and electric sunroof functionality based on its base model XZ+ Lux variant and comes with both petrol and diesel powertrain options.
Price
The Nexon EV is India’s least expensive electric Car and competes directly against models like the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona EV. Boasting over 120 miles of real world range and 1-hour DC charging capabilities with an 8-year battery and powertrain warranty.
The Tata Nexon EV Max Dark comes equipped with keyless entry and push button start, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system from Harman with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, contrasting dual tone roof, rain sensing wipers and rain sensing wipers. This vehicle is powered by a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers 127 PS and 245 Nm to its front wheels via an electric motor mated to a single-speed automatic gearbox that drives those wheels. Furthermore, two driving modes as well as hill ascent/descent assist come standard on this EV; its battery can also be fully charged from zero-80 percent in either 6.5 hours using a 3.3kW charger or 56 minutes via 50kW DC fast charging technology.
Interior
The Nexon EV Max is designed for long distance driving. To accommodate this need, the Nexon EV Max comes equipped with a larger battery with increased range and other new features – but may sacrifice some ground clearance due to fitting its larger battery pack.
Nexon EV Max Dark Edition comes equipped with luxurious black interiors that bring out its trademark blue accents. The piano black dashboard boasts a tri-arrow pattern while perforations in front seats add electric blue hue.
It offers cruise control, four-mode regenerative braking and air purifier as standard features, while also featuring an optional 50kW DC fast charger capable of charging to 80 percent in just an hour compared to 15-16 hours with the regular 3.3kW charger – making the Nexon EV Max an excellent choice for long drives or daily commuters alike.
Exterior
The Nexon EV Max Dark Edition stands out with its bold and premium appearance, boasting dark-hued exterior design elements such as its dark color scheme and chrome blue accents that emphasize its presence. Furthermore, its dark humanity line, roof rails and shark fin antenna add further character to its exterior design.
Nexon EV stands out with its floating touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity features as well as an EV consumption and charge status indicator, driving range display, etc.

Nexon EV Max is powered by a 30.2 kWh Li-ion battery pack that produces 127 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque. An electric motor connected to a single-speed automatic transmission delivers this power directly to its front wheels.
Performance
In sport mode, the Nexon EV Max feels quick and produces instant torque as expected of electric motors – providing exciting driving on winding roads and twisty lanes alike.
The Nexon EV Max boasts similar dashboard panels to its regular sibling, yet with some unique touches such as its chrome selector dial ribbed with Tata’s tri-arrow design and instrument cluster that responds based on drive mode selection (blue for city driving mode and red for sport), along with an indicator showing regen modes. Furthermore, ventilated front seats come standard.
Nexon EV Max’s all-wheel disc brake setup proved effective during our panic braking tests from 80kph, pulling up in 29.3 seconds – an impressive time. Plus, there were no pedal vibrations even under hard braking conditions! However, its weighty feel at the back may hinder its agility on winding roads – though it never made driving uncomfortable; Tata may address this in future updates.
