Marc Martel is a Canadian Christian rock musician. He is best known for being a member and co-founder of the band Downhere and for his EP, Prelude. He also contributed vocal recordings for the 2018 Queen Biographical film, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Marc Martel was born on November 16, 1976 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and he was also raised there by his parents named Ford Martel (Father) and Louisa Martel (Mother).

Marc Martel attended a High School in Quebec and later enrolled at Briercrest College and Seminary in Saskatchewan.

Music Career

Marc Martel formed the Downhere band in 1999 while in College. He formed the band with his roommate named Jason Germain. After graduating from College, he and his bandmates relocated to Nashville, Tennessee.

After moving to Nashville, Tennessee, his band signed a record deal with World Records. He and his band later went on to win Juno Awards, Convenant Awards and a Dove Awards.

The Downhere band has released over 10 albums, including on the Altar of Love, before they went on hiatus in January, 2013.

In September 2011, Martel entered a competition to join Roger Taylor’s official Queen tribute project The Queen Extravaganza with a video of Martel singing along with the Queen Classic.

The video has generated over 25 million video views so far on YouTube and this led to him appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

On February 1, 2013, he released his EP titled Prelude and on September 30, 2014, he released his album titled Impersonator. In September, 2016, he collaborated on ‘Last Christmas’ which featured in the video game. Just Dance 2017.

He is also known for contributing to the vocal recording of the 2018 film, Bohemian Rhapsody. In 2017, he quit Queen Extravaganza and joined the Ultimate Queen Celebration.
