Mahershala enrolled into College with a basketball Scholarship and he initially wanted to become a professional basketball player but as time went on he began to watch a lot of movies and subsequently developed an interest in acting, he first made a Theatre appearance in the production titled Spunk which was aired at the California Shakespeare Theatre, he worked for Gavin Report for a while and then enrolled at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and graduated in 2000 with a Master’s degree.
