Jason Wu is a Taiwanese-Canadian artist and fashion designer based in New York City and he is best known for winning the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star award in 2008.
Biography and Education
Jason Wu was born on the 27th of September, 1982 in Taipei, Taiwan, he and his family emigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada when he was nine years old.
Jason Wu attended Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Massachusetts and Loomis Chaffee in Windsor, Connecticut and he later studied with SYA France of School Year Abroad for his senior year of High School, he also studied sculpture in Tokyo before enrolling into the Parsons The New School for Design, a division of The New School in New York City, but he never graduated.

Jason Wu began his first clothing line named ready-to-wear line of Clothes in 2003 and he raised the capital for this business through the sales he made from the dolls which he designed, in 2008, he became famous after he won the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star award.
In 2008, he was nominated for the CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund Award and this brought him some of his early clients such as Ivana Trump, Amber Valletta and January Jones and he also went on to design six RuPaul dolls.
In June, 2013, he was named the art director of German fashion house Hugo Boss and he was charged with overseeing the Women’s fashion department.
One of Wu’s major customer is the former first lady of the United States Michelle Obama and Michelle also went on to appear on a Vogue magazine wearing a cloth designed by Wu and all these rose his fame the more.
