Adepero Oduye is a Nigerian-American actress, director and writer and she is famously known for her role as Traci Sands in the 2005 television series Law & Order, as Annelle Dupuy Desoto in the 2012 television series Steel Magnolias and as Eliza in the 2013 movie 12 Years a Slave.

Adepero Oduye was born on the 5th of August, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York, United States and she grew up with six siblings, she was born to her father Olu Oduye and to her mother named Temitope Oduye and she was raised in Brooklyn.

Adepero Oduye attended Townsend Harris High School and later enrolled at Cornell University; where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and she then went on to pursue her acting career.
