Zubin Damania is an American hospitalist, internet personality and entrepreneur and he is also the founder of Turntable Health which is a direct primary care clinic located in Down Town Las Vegas and he is popularly known on YouTube as ZDoggMD and for his many comedic rap videos, comedy sketches and music videos.
Zubin Damania Biography and Education
Zubin Damania was born on the 5th of June, 1972 in New Jersey, United States and he was raised in Clovis, California by his parents, Damania’s parents are both Persian doctors who immigrated from India and he also grew up with two siblings, Damania attended the Clovis West High School before she enrolled at the University of California where he studied music and molecular biology, while at the University he completed a research thesis in a generic lab on Integrin-mediated cell-cell adhesion pathways in the Drosophila Melanogaster model alongside James Firstrom.
Damania later enrolled at the medical school at University of California and graduated in 1999, while in Medical School, Damania also pursued his dreams of becoming a comedian, he performed stand up for various drug companies and also featured comedy/medical websites such as Medschool.com, he also went on to perform standup comedy for various hospitals and medical organizations, he also gave the commencement speech at his UCSF graduation ceremony which he uploaded on YouTube and the video has accumulated over a hundred thousand lifetime video views.
Career and Rise to Fame
Zubin Damania completed his residency at Stanford University, he then worked at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation for ten years where he received the Russell Lee Award for Clinical Teaching and while working this job he also performed standup comedy and made parodies part time, as time went on, Damania began to write, perform and film videos especially musical parodies, he went on to create an online character called ZDoggMD which was a gangsta rapper upset about the medical system in the United States.
In 2013, he made a TEDMED presentation titled Are Zombie Doctors Taking over America? And in the presentation he outlined the problems of the healthcare system in America, in 2014, Damania was named as one of the top 14 people to watch out by Las Vegas Weekly and he has been featured on Gizmodo, USA Today, MSNBC, Xconomy, The Atlantic Monthly, TechCrunch, Radio Rounds, Mental Floss, The Guardian and other media platforms, he has also been labeled the Jolliest Doctor on the West Coast and his videos focuses on topics such as Caribbean medical school, stool transplant, ulcers, testicular exams and many more, and in 2012 Tony Hsieh collaborated with Zubin Damania to launch Turntable Health which cost over $350 million.
